FORT MYERS, FL. – November 17, 2022 – To help offset funding issues, the Southwest Florida Free Pain Clinic, a ministry of Christian Medical Ministries, is changing its structure. This is the only free pain clinic in Florida, perhaps in the entire United States. The clinic provides free holistic medical care to low income, uninsured pain patients using a number of licensed healthcare professionals to provide therapies and no controlled drugs. It is moving to an all-volunteer staff operating weekly at their Fort Myers location, 13450 Parker Commons Blvd., Unit 104.
In the next couple of months, Christian Medical Ministries will begin providing free mobile treatment specializing in the care of Biotoxin (Mold) illness patients who are low income and uninsured. The remote sites will be established through United Way houses and church partners, offering treatment for people who cannot get to the present clinic site. The locations will include areas throughout SW Florida, including Labelle, Cape Coral, Downtown Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres, Pine Manor, Bonita Springs and North Fort Myers.
“In order to meet the needs of our community post Hurricane Ian, Christian Medical Ministries is establishing a mobile clinic to travel to sites throughout the region to care for those with Biotoxin (Mold) Illness who are uninsured and low-income,” said Alan Gruning, DO, Executive and Medical Director. “We will partner with United Way and local churches to care for the epidemic of patients who will be sick from living and working in water damaged buildings,” Gruning continued. He is anticipating 80,000 new CIRS cases in SW Florida from Ian, 15 % or more will be low income and uninsured.
